L&T Shipbuilding, December 10, 2013 My location 此页面无法正确加载 Google 地图。您是否拥有此网站？确定 Print Close zoom L&T Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of Larsen & Toubro, bagged orders, valued at USD 154Mn, for six specialized commercial vessels, in the third quarter of 2013-2014.The orders from Halul Offshore Services Company W.L.L., Qatar, are for design, construction, trials and commissioning of four Platform Supply Vessels (PSVs) and two Anchor Handling Towing, Supply and Standby Vessels (AHTSSVs) with 150 MT bollard pull. Secured at a time, when the export order book position of many Indian Shipyards is not so good, the orders reaffirm the customer’s confidence in L&T’s capabilities for building high end offshore support vessels.The ships’ design, to be optimized using modern tools including CFD, complies with the latest Marine Environmental and Crew Accommodation Regulations. The PSVs are designed for carriage of hazardous cargo like Methanol.The ships will be equipped with Dynamic Positioning (DP2) capability and will be suitable for fire-fighting, emergency response, rescue & standby, offshore supply, oil recovery and related duties. The PSVs will be provided with Diesel-Electric propulsion and AHTSSVs will be provided with advanced Diesel-Hybrid propulsion.The PSVs are to be delivered in the first quarter of 2015 and AHTSSVs in the last quarter of 2015.These orders are in addition to the order received last year from Halul Offshore Services Company for 2 PSVs and 2 AHTSSVs.
EDUCATION–More Information on Job Opportunities for NovaScotians Nova Scotia students who are planning their careers will soonhave access to more information about job opportunities in anumber of industries including health care, tourism, and homebuilding. A new agreement between government and industry will also helpcolleges and universities better prepare students for existingjobs. The memorandum of understanding between the Association ofIndustry Sector Councils (AISC), Human Resources DevelopmentCanada (N.S. region) and the province of Nova Scotia was signedtoday, Sept. 15. Dennis Cochrane, deputy minister of education, signed theagreement on behalf of the province. Education is the leaddepartment on the provincial skills agenda which involves meetingthe demands of Nova Scotia’s labour market, providing betterlabour market access and support, and strengthening Nova Scotia’ssystem of lifelong learning opportunities. “The co-ordinated approach and sharing of resources willstrengthen Nova Scotia’s ability to address a number of skills-related challenges,” said Education Minister Jamie Muir.”Matching skilled employees with employer demands will make oureconomy stronger and increase Nova Scotia’s ability to compete inthe global marketplace.” The agreement will help industry provide information touniversities and colleges to train students matching the jobopportunities available in the industries represented by thesector councils. Better information will also be provided aboutthe range of jobs available in AISC’s nine sector councilsincluding health care, tourism, automotive, and informationtechnology. “The memorandum of understanding reflects our commitment to aprocess of joint planning to find better and more comprehensivesolutions to the human resources issues of our sectors and forall Nova Scotians”, said Mary Kenny, president of the AISC andexecutive director of the Atlantic Home Building and RenovationSector Council. “It will provide a basis for more effectivepartnering in the critical areas of labour market information,skills development and credentialing, and the promotion of careeropportunities for our young people.” The memorandum will help make information available to youngpeople so they can make decisions and career choices and willhelp attract and retain skilled workers in the sector industries. The type of labour market information that will be availableincludes how many positions exist currently and will exist in thefuture, which institutions provide training for skilled workersand what additional training may be required to ensure employeesare job ready. Information sharing and joint planning will help narrow theskills gaps in the industries by specifying objectives,activities, outcomes, time frames and the contributions of eachof the partners. Human Resources Development Canada (Nova Scotia Region), apartner to the agreement, has a long working relationship withNova Scotia’s Sector Councils. The memorandum of understanding isin line with Knowledge Matters, which describes a national skillsand learning agenda, as the department’s component of theGovernment of Canada’s Innovation Strategy. The Association of Industry Sector Councils of Nova Scotia is anorganization of nine councils representing the home building andrenovation industry; human resource sectors in the health care,automotive, construction, forestry and trucking industries;information technology; the fisheries sector and the TourismIndustry Association of Nova Scotia.
