Prop Ben Franks’ big hit and unbelievable try-saving tackle on wing Frank Halai

first_imgSunday Apr 14, 2013 Prop Ben Franks’ big hit and unbelievable try-saving tackle on wing Frank Halai The Blues put on an impressive showing away from home as they beat the Hurricanes 28-6 in a fast paced Super Rugby derby in Wellington. While the win was comfortable in the end, the ‘Canes tried their damndest to keep out the lethal Blues outfit. There were a number of big tackles throughout, with Julian Savea knocking back a few players and hitman Motu Matu’u flying at Blues players with mixed success. It was prop Ben Franks who made two of the tackles of the match though, the first being a big hit, the second something that was actually quite unbelievable to see.His hit on Jackson Willison early on was impressive, but later, after a frantic period of play that included multiple turnovers, Franks miraculously chased down speedster Frank Halai.Halai has spent a good amount of time in the New Zealand Sevens team, being one of the highest rated players in the World Series. He actually scored the first try of the game, but on this occasion he met his match as powerlifter Franks’ determined chase prevented a try.The Blues racked up four converted tries in total, giving them a bonus point win after a run of three losses, and helped them leapfrog the Hurricanes into second on the New Zealand conference. We can only speculate as to whether Halai would have made it to the tryline or not. What we do know is that a huge All Blacks prop somehow caught one of the quickest wings in the country.ADVERTISEMENT Posted By: rugbydump Share Send Thanks Sorry there has been an error Big Hits & Dirty Play , See it to Believe it Related Articles 25 WEEKS AGO Suspensions handed down after testicle grabbing… 26 WEEKS AGO The ‘double ruffle’ splits opinion with fans… 26 WEEKS AGO WATCH: The nastiest and most brutal moments… From the WebThis Video Will Soon Be Banned. Three Russians’ samples positive for same banned substance: IWF

first_imgMOSCOW: The International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) said on Friday that doping samples taken from three-time world weightlifting champion Nadezhda Evstyukhina and two other Russian weightlifters had tested positive for the same banned substance. The substance, Dehydrochlormethyltestosterone metabolite, is banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) as an anabolic agent. The 32-year-old Evstyukhina, who is now retired, has been serving a provisional suspension since August last year for a separate potential violation of anti-doping rules, the IWF said. In 2016 the International Olympic Committee (IOC) stripped Evstyukhina of the bronze medal she had won at the 2008 Beijing Olympics in the 75kg category after the retesting of her samples showed the presence of the turinabol, an anabolic steroid, and the banned blood booster Erythropoietin (EPO). The IWF said the samples of Oleg Chen and David Bedzhanyan, who are also serving provisional suspensions for separate potential anti-doping violations, contained the same anabolic agent found in Evstyukhina’s sample. Chen is a three-time silver medallist at the world championships in the 69kg category. Bedzhanyan has won two world silver medals and one bronze in the 105kg category. Maxim Agapitov, the president of Russia’s weightlifting federation, told TASS news agency that the athletes’ samples containing the substance dated back to 2015.
