The average hold period in Townsville for houses is 10.8 years.REIQ Queensland regional director and owner of Keyes & Co Property Damien Keyes said while Oonoonba had plenty of new homes in The Village Estate, there were still many older homes with long-term residents.“It’s likely older people who are hanging on to their homes in Oonoonba and it’s taking time for them to downsize or move into a retirement village,” Mr Keyes said.“With Fairfield Central nearby as well, that has just added to the lifestyle for people living in those homes.” More from news01:21Buyer demand explodes in Townsville’s 2019 flood-affected suburbs12 Sep 202001:21‘Giant surge’ in new home sales lifts Townsville property market10 Sep 2020All three of the suburbs with the longest hold periods have residents with a median age of more than 35.
