Spurs face a tough-looking opening fixture away at Everton, but if they do pick up three points as expected, we know who we’ll be expecting to score their goals! 9 4: Alexis Sanchez (Arsenal) – £11.0m – Click the right arrow to see the next player – With Giroud not back from the Euros in time to feature, most Arsenal fans fancy Alexis Sanchez to start up front for them against Liverpool on Sunday. For this reason alone, if you have Sanchez, you have to take him into consideration when selecting your captain. 3: Shane Long (Southampton) – £6.5m – Click the right arrow to see the next player – Similarly to Negredo, Long is one of the Fantasy Premier League’s cheaper strikers and he also has a convenient first fixture as Southampton play host to Watford on the opening day. If Long opens his account early on in the new campaign, he will be a worthwhile captain. 9 2: Alvaro Negredo (Middlesbrough) – £6.5m – Click the right arrow to see the next player – Alvaro Negredo’s ‘Boro host Stoke in what is a relatively nice opening fixture for them upon their return to the top flight. The ‘beast’ is back in England, but will he be straight back among the goals at his new club? If he is, the Spaniard could be a great outside shout to captain. 9 9 9 7: Jamie Vardy (Leicester) – £10.0m – Click the right arrow to see the next player – Or perhaps a safer choice than Mahrez, if you have both to choose between, would be Jamie Vardy. His goal against Manchester United in the Community Shield shows he certainly hasn’t lost his magic touch over the summer and so he could well end up giving Hull’s defence at torrid time. 8: Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Manchester United) – £11.5m – Click the right arrow to see the next player – Selecting Zlatan as your gameweek one captain is certainly a risk, however he has already opened his account for the Red Devils in the Community Shield. If Ibrahimovic can adapt to the Premier League as quickly as he has most leagues in Europe, you should consider picking him as your main man. 9 5: Eden Hazard (Chelsea) – £10.0m – Click the right arrow to see the next player – Eden Hazard has looked back to his best lately, scoring multiple times for Chelsea in pre-season. But will he be able to translate these performances into actual Premier League goals? If he can Chelsea’s Monday night opening fixture against West Ham might be one worth waiting for. 9 9 9 It’s only gameweek one and already the big decisions are rolling in thick and fast.Having gone through the ordeal of picking your team, changing your team, picking your team again and changing your team again, it’s now time to select your captain. The good news is, once again, we’re here to help and we’ve suggested nine possible players you might want to consider as captain for your Fantasy Premier League side this week.Check out which players you could captain by clicking the right arrow above… 6: Riyad Mahrez (Leicester) – £9.5m – Click the right arrow to see the next player – Nobody knows how Leicester are going to begin the new season as defending champions. They play the first fixture of the entire season when they face Hull, who many tip for relegation, in Saturday’s early kick off. As for Mahrez, if he starts this season the way he ended the last one, he could be a great choice for week one’s captain. 9: Sergio Aguero (Manchester City) – £13.0m – Click the right arrow to see the next player – Obviously, for those who can afford him, the first choice for gameweek one’s captain is Sergio Aguero. Man City’s front man is £13.0m for a reason and his team play Sunderland at home on the first weekend of the season. What’s not to like?last_img
