WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington’s chapter of the NAACP has an exciting milestone coming up on May 31.They are celebrating 100 years together as a chapter. In honor of the upcoming historic day, a panel was held Saturday at Cape Fear Museum to discuss the past, present and future accomplishments in New Hanover County and to help kick off Black History Month.- Advertisement – “We are looking forward to the our celebration. 100 years. That’s a great thing for the branch. We’ve tried to be involved in the community, working with other organizations to help this community resolve issues over racial discrimination, prejudice, so forth and so on,” said Reverend Charles Davis Jr., 1st Vice President of the New Hanover County NAACP Branch.The next event leading up to the big day will take place on February 9, traveling to the capital to march on Jones Street for an open dialogue. Buses will be provided to and from at the stein mart parking lot at 6:30 a.m., returning at about 3 p.m.
